About the position

The Recovery Center Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for providing care and supervision to residents with co-occurring mental health disorders in a supportive environment. This role involves developing therapeutic relationships, facilitating group sessions, and ensuring that residents' needs are met while adhering to treatment guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and interventions for clients with co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Obtain and retain knowledge pertaining to substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health disorders treatment.
  • Actively participate in assigned activities and encourage positive interaction and growth among residents.
  • Follow treatment guidelines by intervening in a caring and consistent manner when needed.
  • Responsible for medication observation, documentation, and communication with the provider pharmacy.
  • Document resident symptoms and medication efficacy.
  • Conduct random urinalysis and breathalyzer tests, COVID tests, and other tests as needed.
  • Promptly conduct the nonviolent crisis prevention intervention (CPI) procedure when necessary.
  • Oversee residents' daily routines including meal time, study time, outings, and bedtime.
  • Serve as a residential advocate by identifying strengths and issues during treatment.
  • Provide residential advocacy at staff meetings and recommend new or revised treatment goals.
  • Co-facilitate group therapy sessions as needed.
  • Facilitate support groups and didactic groups as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or certification in behavioral health.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Ability to treat patients with dignity and empathy.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent and compassionate customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Reliability with time-sensitive deadlines and tasks.
  • Demonstrated temperament to work with women with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model.
  • Demonstrated ability to nurture, support, and respect others.
  • Ability to pass required medical examinations and fulfill essential job functions.
  • Ability to pass an annual TB test and document preference for Hepatitis immunization.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license and at least 3 years of driving experience.
  • Pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of insurance coverage.
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries.
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith and Mission Statement.
