About the position

The OPTIONS Recovery Coach plays a vital role in supporting community members in their recovery journey from substance use and mental health challenges. This position involves collaborating with local agencies and providing both short- and long-term recovery coaching services using a harm reduction approach, adhering to the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) model.

Responsibilities

  • Foster and maintain collaborative partnerships with local law enforcement agencies, community partners, and emergency medical services.
  • Embrace evidenced based practices, harm reduction, motivation interviewing, and the many pathways to recovery.
  • Provide short term intervention with a focus on harm reduction.
  • Link individuals in need to HQHC providers, harm reduction sites, naloxone resources, recovery community centers, withdrawal management, inpatient treatment, housing referrals, and other necessary resources.
  • Support individuals in applying for applicable benefits including MaineCare and food security services.
  • Utilize supervisory supports appropriately and participate in all team/program meetings.
  • Help individuals create their own recovery plans and develop their own recovery pathways.
  • Meet independently with participants to assess their needs and barriers to recovery.
  • Earn Maine Recovery Coach Certification within 180 days of hire and maintain certification throughout tenure.
  • Ensure the Human Rights of clients are respected and protected.
  • Complete all documentation accurately and timely in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all participant information in accordance with state and federal law.
  • Provide outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness to offer harm reduction and safety supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Lived experience of Recovery with Mental Illness, Trauma or Substance Use.
  • Willingness to self-identify with peers in the community.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Valid state driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Paid or unpaid peer support experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including email and data entry.
