About the position

The Recovery Coach is responsible for providing individual and group recovery services to participants diagnosed with substance abuse disorders and/or mental illness. This role involves educating clients about community resources, advocating for their needs, and supporting their recovery journey while embodying the mission and values of WestCare Foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Educates and refers clients to community agencies and businesses that address their needs for food, shelter, clothing, employment, and transportation.
  • Provides services that promote recovery and resiliency.
  • Assists program participants in establishing or re-establishing support systems within their community.
  • Acts as an advocate for program participants to improve access to needed services and treatment.
  • Participates in clinical staffing decisions regarding participants' strengths and resource needs.
  • Completes documentation of services and submits billing in a timely manner.
  • Provides support and supervision to assigned program participants.
  • Assists other WestCare staff to promote cooperation and a professional image.
  • Embraces and embodies the mission, vision, guiding principles, and goals of WestCare Foundation.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Relevant certification(s) and/or licensure preferred; preference will be given to certified candidates.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare's vehicle insurance is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Three or more years in a similar outside role or another position within WestCare is required.
  • Two years of experience in providing direct counseling services to persons with alcohol and/or drug problems is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion is required.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment is required.
  • Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially regarding confidentiality, is required.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor are required.
  • Cultural/linguistic sensitivity to populations served is required.
  • Intake and assessment experience is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual ability is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system is preferred.
  • Prior experience using office equipment, including phones, scanners, printers, and fax machines, is highly desired.
