About the position

As a Recovery Navigator with Recovery Corps, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journeys from substance use disorders. This position is designed for those who have personal experience in recovery and are passionate about helping others achieve similar success. You will be placed at an organization dedicated to serving recovery communities, where you will engage in mentoring, peer support, and resource navigation. Your work will directly impact the lives of individuals striving to build healthier lives, and you will be part of a larger mission to make recovery accessible to more Americans. In this role, you will work closely with clients to help them maintain their progress in recovery. Drawing on your own experiences, you will provide essential mentoring and peer support, assisting clients in navigating various social service resources and programs. You will also participate in ongoing training and professional development, including specialized training in Peer Recovery Support. Building strong relationships with clients will be crucial, as you will encourage them to take ownership of their recovery journey and develop their confidence and skills. As a Recovery Corps ambassador, you will have the opportunity to share your experiences with the wider community, helping to raise awareness about recovery and the resources available to those in need. This position not only allows you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others but also provides you with valuable professional experience within a local recovery organization. Responsibilities

  • Work with others to maintain their progress in recovery.
  • Provide mentoring and peer support based on personal recovery experience.
  • Assist clients in navigating social service resources and programs.
  • Participate in training and professional development throughout the year, including Peer Recovery Support training.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients to build their confidence and skills.
  • Encourage clients to have agency over their own recovery.
  • Share experiences with the wider community as a Recovery Corps ambassador.

Requirements

  • In recovery for at least one uninterrupted year from a substance use disorder.
  • Dependable with a history of good attendance.
  • Able to understand and follow instructions.
  • Able to set a pace and maintain a service schedule based on agreed hours commitment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), internet searches, data entry, email communication, databases, and videoconferencing.
  • Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
  • 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
  • Able to successfully complete a background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in social services or community support roles.
  • Knowledge of local recovery resources and programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
