About the position

The Recovery Support Specialist at Heritage Behavioral Health Center plays a crucial role in providing case management, care coordination, and linkage services for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. This position focuses on supporting clients in maintaining recovery within the community, utilizing both personal recovery experiences and formal training to deliver peer-based recovery support services. The role emphasizes improving overall health, well-being, and quality of life for individuals served.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management and community support services and manage a caseload.
  • Engage clients through telephone and face-to-face interactions who have been referred to the program.
  • Complete needs assessments to identify additional needs including mental health, substance use, health, dental, vision, support systems, legal, education, employment, and transportation.
  • Assist individuals in identifying barriers to achieving sustained recovery and empower them in the recovery management process.
  • Maintain knowledge of appropriate services and resources to promote improved health and well-being.
  • Practice and promote the recovery model of treatment including trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, and spirituality/connectedness.
  • Advocate for individuals to access and maintain housing, benefits, treatment, and seek reasonable accommodations when eligible.
  • Provide other duties as assigned or negotiated with supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) preferred; must be willing to obtain CRSS within 2 years of hire.
  • Individuals must self-identify as having lived experience of a mental health or substance use diagnosis.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of current insurance.
