About the position

The Recreation Assistant position at the Dakota Lanes Bowling facility on Grand Forks AFB, ND, involves overseeing bowling operations, assisting customers, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the bowling center. The role includes responsibilities such as lane assignments, equipment management, and providing instruction on bowling techniques. This is a permanent, intermittent position with no travel requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assign lanes for use and operate the control console.
• Rent shoes and sell items in the pro shop.
• Conduct inventories of pro shop items and snack bar resale items.
• Demonstrate and instruct participants on proper equipment use and bowling techniques.
• Inform supervisor of equipment malfunctions and maintenance needs.
• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of other employees as needed.
• Assist in advertising and recruiting participants for leagues and tournaments.
• Schedule and administer league and tournament activities as needed.
• Ensure activities are properly scheduled and rules are observed.
• Open and close the bowling facility as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of bowling center operations and related rules.
• Understanding of bowling machinery and equipment care.
• Experience in cash handling and accountability control methods.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Skill in dealing with the public.
• Prior experience in basic supply techniques is desirable.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in organizing leagues and tournaments.
• Knowledge of customer service best practices.
