About the position

The Recreation Manager - Facility Operations is responsible for overseeing the administration, coordination, and management of the Town's recreation facilities, aquatics, and day camp operations. This role focuses on optimizing resources, managing daily operations, and ensuring that divisional efforts align with the Town's strategic direction. The position emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and individual initiative, providing opportunities for career growth and development within the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading, organizing, and directing the activities of the division.
  • Manage and supervise division operations of recreation facilities, services, programs, rentals, and events.
  • Supervise employees, including hiring, scheduling, performance reviews, and staff training.
  • Develop and monitor the budget for facilities and assigned program areas, ensuring efficient use of funds.
  • Coordinate with the Town's Risk Manager on safety and risk management operations.
  • Manage the development and recommendation of fees and charges for assigned areas.
  • Make recommendations for recreational facilities and programs based on community needs.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the division.
  • Ensure continuation of all assigned accreditation activities and maintain high performance standards.
  • Respond to and resolve internal and external inquiries and complaints.
  • Manage external vendor contracts and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Management/Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Three years of progressively responsible work experience in parks, recreation, or community service.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid Driver's License issued by the State of Colorado.
  • Certified Parks and Recreation Professional certification within one year of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in municipal recreation principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of development and administration of municipal budgets.
  • Skill in conflict resolution and gaining cooperation among competing interest groups.
