About the position

The Recreation Policy Program Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe's engagement and monitoring of recreation policy issues. This position collaborates closely with the Executive Director of Governmental Affairs & Special Projects and various Tribal departments to ensure the Tribe's values are represented in recreation policy discussions. The manager will collect and analyze recreation data, develop public education strategies, and foster relationships with community organizations and government entities to address recreation issues on the Tribe's ancestral lands.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate cross departmental information sharing, plan details, and project tracking related to recreation.
  • Lead and oversee data collection and analysis efforts related to recreation and recreation impacts to Tribal ancestral lands.
  • Utilize data to support the Tribe's messaging and commenting on recreation impacts and policy.
  • Develop recreation policy plans with Tribal staff and lead various internal Tribal recreation initiatives when directed.
  • Maintain a catalogue of literature related to recreation and management to support policy and messaging development.
  • Support and contribute to recreation-based educational content development.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with governmental agencies, nonprofits, businesses, and community groups related to recreation.
  • Develop messaging specific to user groups to effectively communicate Tribal perspectives on recreational policies.
  • Work with various departments to ensure alignment and consistency in approach to recreation issues.
  • Monitor and analyze external plans, policies, and initiatives related to recreation impacts and provide regular reporting to the internal team.
  • Support the GASP Tower with the planning of various Tribal events and provide logistics support at community events.
  • Produce communications materials to support departmental communications regarding ongoing projects and initiatives related to recreation.
  • Plan and execute events and meetings related to recreation.
  • Gather, analyze, synthesize, organize, and help evaluate a variety of data related to recreation.
  • Coordinate with other Tribal Departments on recreation policy matters.
  • Maintain and organize shared folders and files to ensure team efficiency.
  • Prepare presentation materials and communication documents as needed.
  • Coordinate report items for regular department reports and external reports.
  • Support and lead tasks required for grant management and reporting related to recreation policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, project management, planning, public relations, communications or a related field; or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute for degree requirement.
  • 6+ years of experience working with recreation organizations in the Snoqualmie corridor area.
  • 4+ years of experience with project management and financial reporting processes.
  • 4+ years of experience in policy and community education and messaging to broad audiences.
  • 4+ years of experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • 4+ years of experience working community events.
  • 4+ years of experience with contracts management.
  • Experience working in natural and cultural resource related fields.
  • Experience with writing and communications.
  • Experience with event coordination and planning.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and OneDrive.
  • Experience with budgeting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in business, project management, planning, public relations, communications or a related field; or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute for degree requirement.
