About the position

The Recreation Programs Coordinator for Seniors In Motion is responsible for planning, promoting, organizing, and implementing adult recreational programs specifically tailored for senior citizens. This role involves administering the Seniors in Motion program, which includes organizing recreational classes, trips, and special events designed to enhance the quality of life for older adults in the community. The coordinator will develop and supervise various recreational programs and special events, ensuring they meet the needs and interests of senior participants. In addition to program development, the coordinator will hire and supervise personnel to teach recreational classes, assist with budget management, and implement other Parks and Recreation programs as needed. A key aspect of this position is the supervision and coordination of volunteers involved in special events and recreational activities, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages community engagement. The coordinator will also be responsible for soliciting sponsorships and donations to support various programs and events, maintaining financial records, and coordinating registration, advertising, and supply ordering for all activities. The role requires a proactive approach to researching and developing projects that enhance recreational opportunities for the citizens of Flower Mound. The coordinator will keep their supervisor informed of all work-related activities and adhere to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and effective working environment. This position may also involve assisting co-workers and other departments as needed and performing additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, promotes, organizes, and implements adult recreational programs.
  • Administers the Seniors in Motion senior citizen program by organizing recreational classes, trips, and special events.
  • Develops, promotes, and supervises recreational programs and special events for senior citizens.
  • Hires and supervises personnel to teach recreational classes.
  • Assists with the budget for recreational programs.
  • Supervises and coordinates all volunteers involved with special events and recreational activities.
  • Solicits sponsorships and donations for various recreational programs and events.
  • Maintains financial records for recreational activities, classes, and special events.
  • Coordinates and maintains registration, advertising, and ordering of supplies for all programs.
  • Researches and develops projects to enhance activities for the citizens of the Town.
  • Informs supervisor of all work-related activities and adheres to departmental policies.
  • Assists co-workers and other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education, or related field is required.
  • In lieu of degree, must have six (6) years of experience in programming or supervising a recreational facility and/or working with senior citizens.
  • Two (2) years of experience in programming or supervising a recreational facility and/or working with senior citizens is required.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license and driving record in compliance with Town policy.
  • Must be able to complete and pass the written test for a valid Texas CDL 'B' Driver's License, with Passenger Rating, within 90 days of hire.
