About the position

The Recreation Specialist - Park Monitor is a part-time position responsible for managing daily park schedules, supervising staff, and providing excellent customer service to patrons at recreation facilities. The role involves training staff, maintaining records, and ensuring the health and safety of participants in various programs. This position is essential for the effective operation of the Recreation Department in the City of Palm Beach Gardens, contributing to a vibrant community environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily park schedules and communicate with permit holders.
• Supervise subordinate staff and assist in training and scheduling.
• Provide high levels of customer service to patrons.
• Maintain records in accordance with the Records Retention Law.
• Complete required records and reports on accidents and incidents during shifts.
• Utilize software for financial accounting and program management.
• Observe patrons' health, welfare, and safety during activities.
• Carry out program and lesson plans as assigned.
• Recognize emergency situations and take appropriate action.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with required certifications.
• Two years of experience in related job duties or completion of a shadow training period.
• At least sixteen (16) years of age or meet minimum qualifications outlined by certification.
• Valid State of Florida Driver's License with a good driving record (if required).
• Ability to obtain hands-only adult/child CPR certification within 6 months of employment.

Nice-to-haves
