About the position
The Recreational Coach at Seattle Gymnastics Academy plays a vital role in teaching gymnastics to children of various ages and abilities. This position focuses on fostering strength, skill, and character through gymnastics, while providing a safe and positive learning environment. Coaches will receive comprehensive training and support, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to transition from other fields or those new to gymnastics. The role offers both part-time and full-time opportunities in a dynamic and energetic workplace.
Responsibilities
- Teach progressive gymnastics classes across various departments including Preschool, Recreational, and Trampoline & Tumbling.
- Create lesson plans that align with skill development and the gymnastics skill chart.
- Track skill development and communicate with parents about their child's progress.
- Participate in paid training opportunities, including SGA University courses and USA Gymnastics clinics.
- Assist in light cleaning duties to maintain gym cleanliness and readiness.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge or experience in gymnastics is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication skills with children and adults.
- Ability to work in a high-paced and team-oriented environment.
- Reliability and consistency in attendance and class schedules.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working in a gym or kid-friendly environment is preferred.
- Enthusiasm for working with children in a safe and engaging manner.
