About the position

The Recreational Therapist position at R.L. Klein & Associates involves providing specialized recreation therapy services to Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth within a correctional facility. The role focuses on promoting social interaction, encouraging appropriate leisure activities, and preparing individuals for reentry into the general population or other treatment levels. The therapist will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to evaluate and coordinate therapy needs, ensuring effective communication and care delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services to Correctional Facility Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth.
• Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinate services with primary clinicians, correctional counselors, and other custody personnel.
• Evaluate recreation therapy needs for Patients-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth, focusing on activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.

Requirements

• Minimum of twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years performing similar services in a public or private institution.
• Required licenses, permits, and/or certifications for Recreation Therapists.
• Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with a major in therapeutic recreation or recreation with an emphasis in therapeutic recreation.
