About the position

The Recruiter and Admissions Specialist at Washburn University is responsible for organizing and executing recruitment efforts within an assigned territory. This role focuses on building relationships with prospective students, guiding them through the admissions process, and achieving recruitment goals. The position is campus-based in Topeka, Kansas, and involves collaboration with high schools, colleges, and community organizations to attract a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and recruit prospective students by developing strong rapport with high school, college, and community personnel.
  • Cultivate prospects and applicants within the assigned recruitment territory to achieve yearly recruitment goals.
  • Support and guide students through the admissions process, including FAFSA completion and New Student Orientation registration.
  • Develop and execute a recruitment travel schedule for college fairs and school visits.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective students, families, and school personnel through outreach efforts.
  • Analyze data to identify trends in recruitment and retention programs.
  • Assist in executing on-campus recruitment events and personalized campus visits.
  • Deliver presentations to prospective students, families, and school counselors.
  • Participate in meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide support for processing applications and admissions decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or degree completion by the end of the semester of hire).
  • Experience in collegiate admissions, recruitment, sales, or related areas.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Commitment to building effective relationships with diverse populations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Windows operating software and Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
