About the position

The Recruitment & Retention Specialist plays a crucial role in the Human Resources department at Wellborn Cabinet, Inc., working closely with the Chief People Officer and the Staffing & People Relations Manager. The primary purpose of this position is to develop and implement effective strategies for recruiting and retaining employees, ensuring that the company remains a top choice for potential candidates and a supportive environment for current employees. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including recruitment, onboarding, training, employee engagement, and retention efforts. The incumbent will be instrumental in fostering a positive workplace culture and enhancing employee satisfaction. In terms of recruitment, the specialist will design and implement comprehensive recruiting strategies utilizing various databases and social media platforms to attract candidates for open positions. This includes actively sourcing candidates through networking, job boards, and recruiting events such as job fairs. The specialist will oversee the entire hiring process, from conducting phone screens to coordinating interviews and managing reference checks. Maintaining clear and consistent communication with both candidates and the internal hiring team throughout the recruitment cycle is essential. Onboarding new employees is another critical aspect of this role. The specialist will coordinate and conduct orientation sessions, ensuring that new hires are well-acquainted with the company culture and their roles. Additionally, the specialist will partner with supervisors to facilitate training programs and provide ongoing support to new employees. Retention efforts will involve actively engaging with employees, administering exit interviews, and analyzing feedback to identify areas for improvement. The specialist will work closely with management to develop and implement employee engagement activities and retention strategies, ensuring that employees feel valued and supported in their career growth. This position requires a proactive approach to fostering a positive work environment and promoting Wellborn Cabinet, Inc. as the best place to work.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the overall recruiting strategy using databases and social media to filter candidates.
  • Actively attract and source candidates through networking, social media, job boards, and recruiting events.
  • Oversee all steps of the hiring process including phone screens, coordinating interviews, and conducting reference checks.
  • Maintain excellent communication throughout the recruitment cycle with internal hiring teams and candidates.
  • Onboard new employees by coordinating and conducting orientation and company culture training.
  • Partner with supervisors to coordinate regular check-ins during the training program.
  • Act as a point of contact to build influential candidate relationships during the selection process.
  • Engage with employees and provide visible support for retention efforts.
  • Partner with leadership to create and implement staffing and retention strategies.
  • Administer exit interviews, employee surveys, and stay interviews to analyze feedback and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide guidance to managers on employee engagement and retention activities.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recruitment experience.
  • Hands-on experience with a company retention improvement program.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to follow through on tasks and see them to completion.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy.
  • Attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Technologically savvy with excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Skilled at working both independently and within a team environment.
