About the position

The Recruiter/Enrollment Specialist for Region 2 at Texas A&M University - Central Texas plays a crucial role in enhancing the university's enrollment efforts, particularly focusing on the Hutto and Austin areas. Under the general supervision of the Regional Recruitment Coordinator, this position is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and increasing the population of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented students. The specialist will serve as a mentor and will coordinate travel schedules and assignments while developing effective recruiting plans tailored to the assigned areas and schools. In this role, the Recruiter/Enrollment Specialist will work closely with high school counselors to facilitate the application process for prospective students. This includes tracking and following up with targeted students and their parents, advising them about admissions statuses, policies, and available programs. Building strong working relationships with members of the Texas A&M University System, departments, counselors, and advisors is essential to enhance customer service and satisfaction. The specialist will also disseminate important admissions information and conduct public speaking engagements both on and off campus, maintaining related records. Additionally, the position involves reviewing admission applications and assisting in conducting third reviews of applications. The specialist will work directly with applicants and their parents to resolve any extenuating circumstances, complaints, or appeals regarding admissions denials. Completing reports on various programs and projects, proposing, organizing, planning, and coordinating events—including accommodations, itineraries, meals, and speakers—are also key responsibilities. The Recruiter/Enrollment Specialist will coordinate major office programs and serve on office committees, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Enrollment Management department.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Knowledge of admissions functions of higher education.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
