About the position

The Recruiter/Enrollment Specialist at Texas A&M University - Central Texas plays a crucial role in enhancing the university's enrollment efforts, particularly focusing on increasing the population of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented students. Under the general supervision of the Regional Recruitment Coordinator, this position is responsible for identifying and recruiting prospective students in the Hutto and Austin areas. The specialist will serve as a mentor and will coordinate travel schedules and assignments to effectively reach out to potential students. This role requires the development of comprehensive recruiting plans tailored to the assigned areas and schools, ensuring that the university's admissions processes are accessible and well-communicated to prospective students and their families. In addition to recruitment, the specialist will work closely with high school counselors to facilitate the application process, track and follow up with targeted students and their parents, and provide guidance on admissions statuses, policies, and programs offered by the university. Building strong relationships with various stakeholders, including TAMUS members, departments, counselors, and advisors, is essential to enhance customer service and satisfaction. The role also involves disseminating admissions information, conducting public speaking engagements both on and off campus, and maintaining accurate records related to these activities. The Recruiter/Enrollment Specialist will review admission applications and assist in conducting third reviews of applications, working directly with applicants and their families to resolve any issues related to admissions denials. The position requires the completion of reports on various programs and projects, as well as the organization and coordination of events, including accommodations, itineraries, meals, and speakers. The specialist will also participate in office committees and perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall mission of the university to provide quality education and support to its diverse student population.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented students.
  • Develops an effective plan for recruiting in the assigned area(s) and schools.

  • Serves on office committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Knowledge of admissions functions of higher education.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
