About the position

The Recruiter/Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the talent acquisition function within The Gideons International, ensuring that the organization is recognized as an 'Employer of Choice.' This position is responsible for supporting all levels of the organization with confidentiality and integrity, identifying staffing and recruiting needs, and finding innovative solutions to fulfill those needs. The specialist will continuously work to improve the organization's talent base and pipeline, which is essential for the overall efficiency and success of each department within the organization. The impact of this role is significant, as it directly affects the effectiveness of recruiting and hiring individuals who are called to serve in full-time Christian ministry. The results of this position will be measured through the annual Employee Engagement Survey conducted by Best Christian Workplaces, ensuring a coherent and engaged team. In this role, the specialist will oversee the entire employment process, which includes developing recruitment strategies, actively recruiting candidates, and onboarding new hires. The specialist will source and recruit viable candidates for open positions using industry best practices, ensuring that high-potential employees are developed for future opportunities. This includes posting open positions on various job boards, performing resume screenings, conducting initial phone screens, and maintaining detailed records of candidates and interactions. The specialist will also recommend innovative approaches to improve departmental efficiency and assist the Human Resources Generalist and HR Director with other functions as necessary. Additionally, participation in daily morning staff devotions is expected, reflecting the organization's commitment to its Christian mission.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the employment process, including developing recruitment strategy, active recruitment, and onboarding new hires.
  • Source and recruit viable candidates for open positions using industry best practices and strategies.
  • Support talent management by ensuring high potential employees are developed for next level opportunities and talent pipeline is maintained.
  • Post open positions on available job boards and actively research additional avenues to attract ministry-minded candidates.
  • Perform resume screening and initial phone screens to determine candidate fit.
  • Ensure that the new hire onboarding and orientation processes are consistently completed.
  • Maintain detailed records of candidates and each interaction.
  • Recommend innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Assist Human Resources Generalist and HR Director with other functions, as necessary.
  • Complete special projects or other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in daily morning staff devotions; serve by praying and reading Scripture in support of devotion leader.

Requirements

  • Ability to work on both strategic and tactical levels to own the talent process end-to-end.
  • Ability to articulate measurable goals and progress in talent acquisition.
  • Able to diagnose and identify appropriate talent management solutions.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills; problem-solving techniques; analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group.
  • Proficient in using PC and widely used software packages, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new software as necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • BA/BS Degree in Human Resources, Business or Public Administration or Behavioral Sciences.
  • Experience in a support or administrative role.
  • Knowledge of recruiting and interviewing techniques, state and federal regulations, company policies, and fair employment practices is highly advantageous.
  • Exceptional organizational, listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with deadline pressures and manage conflicting priorities.
