About the position

As a full-time Recruiter at the Toledo Zoo & Aquarium, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the Zoo is staffed with qualified individuals who are dedicated to the care of over 720 species of animals and the protection of endangered species worldwide. The Toledo Zoo has a rich history of over 100 years in conservation efforts, and your work will directly contribute to this mission. You will collaborate closely with the Director of Talent and the recruitment team to strategically develop the Zoo's recruiting program, which includes coordinating diversity programming, internal hiring events, and other special events as needed. Your responsibilities will encompass the full cycle of recruiting, from application to onboarding and orientation for both part-time and full-time applicants. You will identify the needs of various departments and utilize creative methods such as advertisements, job fairs, and partnerships with local businesses to attract top talent. Additionally, you will actively source candidates from targeted sources and maintain a talent pipeline based on the Zoo's business needs. In this role, you will also manage applicant flow using appropriate technology, assist in interviewing candidates, and keep abreast of current employment laws and practices. You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing various reports and records, including applications, resumes, and billing invoices. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Talent and the recruitment team in the strategic development of the Zoo's recruiting program.
  • Assist with the coordination of diversity programming, internal hiring events, and special events as needed.
  • Identify department needs and recruit through advertisements, job fairs, temporary employment agencies, college programs, and other creative methods.
  • Perform full cycle recruiting efforts for the Zoo from application to onboarding and orientations for part-time and full-time applicants.
  • Cultivate a talent pipeline for various positions based on business need.
  • Actively source candidates from target sources as required.
  • Utilize appropriate technology to manage applicant flow, interviews, hires, transfers, and terminations.
  • Partner with local businesses and Zoo staff to plan, implement, and attend part-time and seasonal employee events, including community partner programming.
  • Review, prepare, analyze, and submit various reports and records including applications and resumes, ACA reporting, SOPS, I9 maintenance, billing invoices, purchase orders, and general office correspondence.
  • Keep abreast of current employment laws and practices.
  • Provide assistance in interviewing part or full-time staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.
  • Knowledge of hiring legalities and 3+ years of recruiting experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to identify and hire top talent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of HR practices.
  • Experience collaborating in a team-oriented environment.
  • Resourcefulness and ability to take initiative.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable by the Zoo fleet insurance carrier.
