About the position

The Recruiting and Admissions Advisor at Davis Technical College plays a crucial role in fostering student success through the application and admissions process. This position involves providing guidance and support to potential students, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and services prior to enrollment. The advisor will collaborate with marketing and systems teams to enhance recruitment efforts and facilitate student interest in various programs offered by the college.

Responsibilities

  • Provide career guidance and pre-enrollment advisement regarding all areas of Student Services.
  • Advise potential students on financial aid information, ADA related services, career goals, and professional development.
  • Act as a mentor and advocate for potential students, offering support through positive communication and problem resolution.
  • Meet with potential students and provide tours and program information.
  • Assist students in connecting with off-campus resources beyond those available or provided by the College.
  • Work cooperatively with community agencies, organizations, and CTE Coordinators to improve the student admissions experience.
  • Foster relationships with secondary and higher education partners to guide students through pathways toward stackable credentials.
  • Document outreach to students using CRM and recruiting systems.
  • Manage incoming phone calls and email inquiries, guiding staff in communicating with key personnel.
  • Evaluate prior education to assess the possibility of accelerating student progress in coordination with the Assessment Center.
  • Provide presentations and demonstrations of Davis Technical College programs to outside partners.
  • Assist other Recruiting and Admissions Specialists with workloads and may be assigned as the primary advisor for specific programs.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience directly related to recruitment and/or career/employment advising, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and persons with disabilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to develop working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, students, and the public.
  • Ability to give presentations and speak to large, diverse groups.
  • Ability to work independently and manage work assignments in a highly interpersonal contact environment.
  • Ability to handle stress caused by workload and deadlines.
  • Ability to make independent decisions with little or no supervision.
  • Attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Proficiency with computers and various software systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Veterans' benefits, financial aid, or other student needs.
  • Experience in open entry/exit competency-based training, CRM systems, student information systems, and student management retention systems.
  • Fluency in the Spanish language.
