About the position

The Recruiting and Pre-Employment Specialist at GFL Industries plays a vital role in supporting multiple departments by managing the pre-employment screening process. This position is designed to ensure a positive candidate experience while adhering to various administrative tasks and compliance with Federal DOT and company requirements. The specialist will be responsible for providing quality work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating the ability to multi-task while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. The role is remote or hybrid, depending on the candidate's location, and offers a starting wage of $23.00 per hour. Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the HR, Talent, Safety, and field operations teams.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry, including documenting notes, updating statuses in the recruiting tool, and completing weekly reports.
  • Review pre-employment screening reports and escalate issues to the appropriate department when necessary.
  • Order background checks, drug screenings, and other required pre-employment screening reports.
  • Create a positive candidate experience by remaining attentive and responsive during the recruiting and pre-employment process.
  • Communicate timely and appropriately with internal and external customers.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors to obtain results when necessary.
  • Ensure all searches comply with company policies and procedures as well as employment laws and regulations.
  • Adhere to all DOT and FMCSA regulations and standards.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and current human resources best practices.
  • Cross-train functionality to assist recruiters when necessary.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in high-volume administrative, human resources, or safety support.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations strongly preferred.
  • Experience maintaining confidential files and reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
