About the position

The Recruitment & Onboarding Specialist at Bowling Green State University is responsible for planning, facilitating, and coordinating the recruitment and onboarding processes for university staff positions. This role focuses on improving recruitment methods and ensuring compliance with employment laws while fostering a diverse applicant pool.

Responsibilities

  • Assist hiring managers with posting jobs in the university's online applicant tracking system.
  • Collaborate with advertising agencies to ensure diverse advertising sources and methods.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external job placement firms.
  • Facilitate the selection and placement of candidates by processing employment forms and maintaining records.
  • Manage the online hiring documentation and assist candidates with the application process.
  • Ensure compliance with equal employment opportunity laws in collaboration with the Division of Inclusion and Belonging.
  • Review candidate application materials and explain employment policies to applicants and staff.
  • Evaluate and improve recruitment methods and analyze data for recommendations.
  • Maintain university memberships for job posting resources and manage invoices.
  • Communicate with applicants to ensure timely information receipt and resolve HR-related issues.
  • Manage the background check process for staff and faculty positions.
  • Plan and facilitate new employee orientation sessions.
  • Maintain and monitor the university I-9 system and perform regular audits.
  • Establish partnerships with organizations to recruit diverse candidates.
  • Participate in job fairs to promote the university and address underrepresentation.
  • Maintain the university Careers page and update as necessary.
  • Work with General Counsel on Labor Condition Applications for international hires.
  • Run and review applicant tracking analytics for trends and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in recruitment and hiring processes.
  • Associate's degree and 7 years of experience in recruitment and hiring processes.
  • Experience managing all phases of the recruitment and hiring process.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with an online hiring system.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
