About the position

The Recruitment & Onboarding Specialist plays a crucial role in planning, facilitating, and coordinating the recruitment and onboarding processes for university staff positions. This position aims to attract qualified and diverse applicants while improving recruitment processes and efficiencies. The specialist will work closely with hiring managers, external agencies, and various stakeholders to ensure compliance with employment laws and enhance the overall recruitment experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist hiring managers with posting jobs in the university's online applicant tracking system.
  • Facilitate advertising for university departments by collaborating with advertising agencies to ensure diverse sources and methods.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external firms for job placement and postings.
  • Facilitate selection and placement of candidates by processing employment forms and maintaining employment records.
  • Maintain compliance with equal employment opportunity (EEO) and related employment laws in collaboration with the Division of Inclusion and Belonging.
  • Review candidate application materials submitted for HR review by search committees and/or hiring managers.
  • Explain employment policies and procedures to applicants and staff as necessary.
  • Evaluate and improve efficiency and effectiveness of recruitment methods and processes; analyze data and recommend updates.
  • Manage the background check process for all staff and faculty positions.
  • Plan and facilitate new employee orientation sessions.
  • Maintain and monitor the university I-9 system for staff, performing regular audits and addressing issues.
  • Establish partnerships with organizations to recruit diverse candidates and participate in job fairs.
  • Maintain the university Careers page in the online applicant tracking system and update as necessary.
  • Support Inclusion and Belonging initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and 7 years of experience or Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in managing all phases of the recruitment and hiring process.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and other relevant statutory regulations including EEO and ADA laws and guidelines.

Nice-to-haves
