About the position

The Recruitment Specialist at Oklahoma State University (OSU) plays a crucial role in supporting the university's enrollment goals, with a specific focus on recruiting Hispanic prospective students. This position serves as the primary point of contact for these students and their families, providing guidance on admission policies, housing, scholarships, and academic opportunities. The specialist will engage in outreach efforts, collaborate with various departments, and conduct presentations to effectively communicate OSU's offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and assist prospective students as an OSU representative to support the University's enrollment goals, specifically focusing on Hispanic recruitment.
  • Act as the primary point person for the recruitment of Hispanic students and families.
  • Collaborate with other Undergraduate Admissions staff and campus partners to recruit Hispanic prospective students.
  • Discuss policies and procedures required for admission, housing, scholarships, and financial aid with prospective students and families.
  • Meet and foster professional relationships with Hispanic prospective students and their families in various settings.
  • Determine and execute strategies for effective outreach to Hispanic prospective students, including calls, texts, emails, and personal interactions.
  • Collaborate with the undergraduate admissions communications team on Hispanic initiatives, providing strategic insight and assistance with Spanish translations.
  • Conduct trend analysis for the Hispanic prospective student population and formulate action plans based on analysis.
  • Make presentations in English and Spanish to groups of prospective students and families about opportunities at OSU.
  • Assist with daily office operations, including answering phones and responding to emails.
  • Maintain a personalized public presence in a wide range of environments such as high schools and college fairs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree conferred prior to or upon start date in a related field.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs. (boxes of recruiting materials).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with technical proficiency in MS applications.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) both verbal and written.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Two years of experience working in higher education, in admissions, advising, scholarships & financial aid, or a related department.
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Experience with or exposure to student development in a rigorous academic setting.
  • Familiarity with the expectations and demands of high-achieving students.
