About the position

The Red Hat Systems Administrator at Integrated Computer Solutions is responsible for managing the performance and efficiency of Solaris and RHEL operating systems. This role involves providing Tier II and Tier III IT support, operations and maintenance for MS Windows and UNIX/Linux systems, and supporting various databases. The position requires expert oversight of RedHat/Linux systems and collaboration with teams to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with security protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert oversight and support for RedHat/Linux systems, including setup, documentation, performance tuning, software installation, and patch management.
  • Direct system administration functions across teams, ensuring compliance with security protocols and configuration control.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to applications and operating systems, ensuring optimal performance through monitoring and maintenance.
  • Maintain hardware and software for maximum availability, performing necessary updates and repairs outside of business hours when needed.
  • Address and document incidents related to RedHat/Linux systems, developing strategies and standards for system use.
  • Use sound judgment to identify upgrade needs and plan for system enhancements based on customer requirements.
  • Develop, install, and monitor RedHat/Linux systems, coordinating with teams for upgrades and enhancements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in systems operations and cybersecurity, ensuring the integrity of production and development environments.
  • Evaluate software and procedures, offering recommendations and support to lower-level staff for effective system management.
  • Communicate complex technical issues to customers and leadership, fostering partnerships and providing technical direction.
  • Adhere to safety and security policies, training, and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Minimum Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to be Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) indoctrinated.
  • High school diploma.
  • DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical Level II (IAT-II) Certification (CompTIA Security+CE).
  • 10 years of information technology experience in areas such as Information Systems Architecture, Telecommunications Systems Design, Architecture, Implementation, Information Systems Integration, Software Development Methodologies, Security Engineering, Communications or Network Systems Management.
