The Reference Librarian (Part-Time) position is a complex professional role that requires specialized knowledge of public library resources and excellent communication skills. This role is essential in providing professional assistance to library users in locating information and library materials. The librarian will assist patrons with various tasks, including navigating the Internet and using word processing software, while also recommending reading materials based on user needs. The position is part-time, with a requirement to work approximately 15 hours per week, including all Sundays. The Reference Librarian will report to and be evaluated by the Headquarters Managing Librarian, ensuring that library services meet the community's needs effectively. In this role, the librarian will provide information and reference services to the public, directly assisting patrons in their inquiries. Utilizing professional knowledge of library resources, the librarian will help patrons access information and use computers, including the Internet, word processing applications, databases, photocopiers, scanners, and microfilm reader printers. The librarian will also perform research and database searches as needed, consulting with library staff and administration regarding reference collection policies and procedures. Additionally, the librarian will recommend materials to library users and collaborate with library staff to enhance the reference collection. The position may also involve performing related duties of equivalent difficulty as assigned, contributing to the overall effectiveness of library services. The Reference Librarian must be adaptable and willing to take on various tasks to support the library's mission and objectives.
