About the position

The University of Houston Libraries is seeking a Reformatting Projects Librarian to join the Preservation and Reformatting Department. This role focuses on preserving and ensuring sustainable long-term access to the Libraries' collections through digital reformatting and digitization services. The librarian will manage digital projects, supervise student workers, and maintain digital reformatting equipment, while also evaluating workflows to enhance efficiency in digitization processes.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of digital access and preservation services.
• Manage the overall digital projects pipeline, including creating project plans and scheduling meetings.
• Supervise a team of student workers, providing training on digitization activities.
• Delegate project tasks to PARD staff and student workers.
• Lead the maintenance and troubleshooting of digital reformatting equipment and software.
• Evaluate reformatting workflows and develop strategies to maximize digitization efficiency.
• Implement UH Libraries' digital preservation policies and ensure best practices for file management.

Requirements

• Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program.
• Experience with digitizing and reformatting various material types, including rare books and audiovisual materials.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies.
• Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments.
