About the position

The Refrigeration Start-up Technician at CoolSys is responsible for the start-up of supermarket refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment, ensuring customer needs are met efficiently and accurately. This role involves working on various projects, including Energy Optimization (EO) initiatives, and requires a strong background in commercial refrigeration systems, particularly parallel rack systems. The technician will act as a subject matter expert, leading small projects and assisting in training junior technicians.

Responsibilities

• Perform start-up of supermarket refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment.
• Assist with Energy Optimization (EO) projects.
• Lead small projects such as single case and condenser changeouts.
• Perform evacuations of parallel racks after verifying pressure tests.
• Perform all EMS wiring and programming for all manufacturers of EMS systems.
• Perform full start-up of new parallel refrigeration systems and individual systems.
• Work with local branch Service and Construction Managers to assist in problematic stores and training for junior technicians.
• Troubleshoot commercial and supermarket refrigeration equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Coursework at an accredited vocational-technical or trade school.
• 5+ years of experience in commercial refrigeration, especially with parallel rack systems.
• EPA I and II Certification required.
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Expert knowledge of refrigeration, ice machines, and electrical systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints on refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing.

Nice-to-haves

• EMS Certification preferred.
