About the position

The Refrigeration Start-up Technician at CoolSys is responsible for the start-up of supermarket refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment, ensuring customer needs are met efficiently and accurately. This role involves working on various projects, including Energy Optimization (EO) initiatives, and requires a strong background in refrigeration systems, particularly in supermarket environments. The technician will act as a subject matter expert, leading small projects and assisting in training junior technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Perform start-up of supermarket refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment.
  • Assist with Energy Optimization (EO) projects.
  • Conduct evacuations of parallel racks after verifying pressure tests.
  • Perform all EMS wiring and programming for various manufacturers.
  • Lead small projects such as single case and condenser changeouts.
  • Assist with retromissioning of supermarkets for system performance or utility programs.
  • Work with local branch Service and Construction Managers to assist in problematic stores and training for junior technicians.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Coursework at an accredited vocational-technical or trade school.
  • 3+ years of experience with supermarket EMS systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial refrigeration, especially with parallel rack systems.
  • EPA I and II Certification required.
  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Expert knowledge of refrigeration, ice machines, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to efficiently troubleshoot commercial and supermarket refrigeration equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and good communication skills.
