About the position

Cornell College is seeking a full-time Refrigeration Technician responsible for performing maintenance on food service equipment and general facility upkeep. The role involves a mix of routine and skilled tasks, requiring problem identification and resolution skills. The technician will work under minimal supervision and must efficiently utilize available resources to complete tasks. The position includes participation in an on-call rotation and requires a valid EPA Refrigeration Certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative and repair procedures on food service equipment and general facility maintenance.
• Apply knowledge of testing, repair, and replacement of fixtures including electrical, refrigeration, heating, plumbing, and specialized equipment.
• Assist with renovation and remodeling of buildings.
• Conduct preventive maintenance procedures and inspections on food service and building equipment.
• Monitor and troubleshoot HVAC efficiencies through BAS and DDC controls.
• Maintain records of maintenance procedures and work orders using CMMS software.
• Manage parts ordering, inventory, and maintenance budget.
• Identify and correct potential safety hazards and maintain an organized workspace.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests as part of the on-call rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five years of experience in food service equipment maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent skills in using hand and power tools, testing, and calibration.
• Valid EPA Refrigeration Certification required.
• Valid Iowa driver's license and insurable to drive.

• Dependable with positive customer service skills.
• Experience with CMMS and BAS is a plus.
