About the position

The Refugee Employment Case Manager at Bethany Christian Services is responsible for providing comprehensive case management services to refugees, ensuring they receive the necessary support during their initial months in the U.S. This role involves maintaining a caseload, providing transportation, and assisting clients in overcoming barriers to employment. The position requires effective communication with community resources and adherence to agency and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally, comprehensive case management services in accordance with the program handbook and ORR Matching Grant Guidelines.
  • Maintain a caseload in compliance with agency expectations, licensing requirements, and contract terms.
  • Provide transportation to clients for medical appointments, employment, and other necessary external parties.
  • Assist clients in finding available employment and identifying barriers to employment.
  • Ensure appropriate referrals are made for work skills classes, ELL, DHHS, and other agencies as needed.
  • Provide bus training for new client arrivals.
  • Complete and document all required reports, case notes, and case contacts in the appropriate database.
  • Attend weekly meetings with supervisor to consult on cases and review case plans.
  • Provide support to volunteers from sponsoring congregations and community groups.
  • Stay informed about community resources and refer families for support as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication with community resources and individuals involved in service provisions to clients.
  • Keep abreast of all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to social services.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field from an accredited college.
  • At least one year of prior case management experience in child and family services.
  • Multi-lingual: English, Kinyarwanda, and/or Swahili.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated clinical, therapeutic, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate customer service.
  • Ability to make mature and stable judgments with sensitivity to various cultures and the unique history of refugees.
  • Knowledge of state, community, and agency resources.
  • Highly organized and able to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions, including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license and at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S.
  • Pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage.
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries.
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commitment.
