About the position

The Refugee Residential Case Manager at Bethany Christian Services is responsible for providing culturally sensitive social services to refugee clients from their arrival in the United States. This role involves maintaining client files, ensuring compliance with partner organizations and regulatory requirements, and collaborating with internal staff to coordinate services. The position requires effective communication, crisis intervention skills, and a commitment to the mission of refugee resettlement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally sensitive case management services to refugee clients during their initial period in the U.S.
  • Maintain up-to-date client files as required by partner organizations and the Department of State.
  • Ensure delivery of services as outlined in partner organizations' handbook and contractual agreements.
  • Complete necessary paperwork within specified time frames based on contract guidelines.
  • Attend weekly meetings with supervisors to consult on cases and review case plans.
  • Collaborate with internal staff to coordinate services for clients enrolled in various programs.
  • Stay informed about current refugee issues through reading, seminars, and community involvement.
  • Refer clients to community resources for additional support as needed.
  • Complete on-call duties, including time outside normal business hours and weekends.
  • Support local community volunteers by providing information and training as needed.
  • Provide transportation to clients when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, or a related field from an accredited college.
  • 3 years of driving experience with a valid driver's license.
  • Experience in child welfare and/or case management is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Arabic, French, Kinyarwanda, Swahili, or other relevant languages for refugee resettlement.
  • Demonstrated clinical, therapeutic, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Commitment to the goals of refugee resettlement and the program mission.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior work experience serving refugees is preferred.
  • Sensitivity in communicating and developing cross-cultural relationships.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
