About the position

The Refugee Support/Case Aid position at May Dugan Center involves working directly with newly arrived refugees during their initial 90 days in Cleveland. The role focuses on establishing housing, facilitating medical exams, and linking clients to social services. The case aide will assess additional needs such as school enrollment, transportation, and employment, while collaborating with a team to support refugees in their transition and integration into the community.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial housing placement, including researching and securing apartments, coordinating furniture and household goods, and ensuring utilities are turned on.
• Support clients with housing transitions, challenges, and crises, including landlord mediation and emergency financial assistance.
• Transport clients to initial interviews with Jobs and Family Services and medical appointments.
• Maintain meticulous attention to detail in paperwork and filing requirements for all services.
• Collaborate with May Dugan team members and the larger refugee community in Cleveland.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Bilingual or multilingual ability, preferably in Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Nepali, or French.
• Valid driver's license, insurance, and clean driving record.
• Experience in customer service, preferably 3 years.
• Knowledge of MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, and database programs.

Nice-to-haves

• Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification is preferred but not required.
• Prior experience in providing resettlement services is strongly preferred.
