About the position

The Region Operations Consultant & Chief of Staff at Liberty Mutual serves as the chief operating leader for the Northeast Independent Agent & Broker Distribution organization and Field Executive. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities across both small commercial and personal lines, focusing on organizing and operationalizing distribution and agency initiatives within the region and states. The consultant is tasked with developing and deploying regional tactics aimed at achieving critical operational objectives, which involves analyzing key performance indicators to assess business flow, identify opportunities, and inform regional strategies. In this capacity, the consultant acts as a primary liaison for national field operations groups, ensuring consistency in agency management practices across the country. The role requires managing complex projects that have a function-wide impact, collaborating with various national and regional groups to align field operations with the national distribution organization, and engaging with cross-functional areas such as underwriting and finance. The consultant supports the regional Field Executive in crafting region and state strategies, which includes identifying opportunities, tactical planning, deployment, and monitoring results. Additionally, the consultant manages the region's agency compensation strategy, which encompasses agency profit sharing, promotions, and commissions, while also overseeing the execution of processes and managing results against plans. The role involves developing complex reports and dashboards that require advanced data manipulation and logic, utilizing tools such as queries, macros, and basic SQL. The consultant leads the development of regional advisory councils, organizes internal meetings, and ensures that agency reviews are conducted in an organized and standardized manner, aligned with business line expectations. This position also supports region leadership in premium and budget planning and monitoring, ensuring that all initiatives are executed effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as chief operating leader to the Northeast Independent Agent & Broker Distribution organization & Field Executive.

  • Analyzes key performance indicators to assess business flow, identify opportunities, and inform regional strategies.
  • Serves as a primary liaison for national field operations groups to drive consistency in agency management practices.
  • Manages complex projects with function-wide impact, ensuring alignment with national distribution organization and cross-functional areas.
  • Supports the regional Field Executive in developing region and state strategies, including opportunity identification and tactical planning.
  • Manages region agency compensation strategy, including agency profit sharing, promotions, and commissions.
  • Owns report development for complex reports and dashboards, utilizing advanced data manipulation techniques.
  • Leads development of regional advisory councils and organizes internal meetings for regional leadership.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required; Master's preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the insurance industry, including regular interaction with agents and brokers.
  • Strong knowledge of agency management strategies and project management principles.
  • Proven ability to apply project management principles to complex, function-wide projects and implement business process changes.
  • Displays strong research, problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced business operations knowledge, including understanding the function's value chain and market conditions.
  • Advanced influencing, relationship management, and presentation skills.
  • Highly skilled at supporting change and imparting value within an organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of available data sources, strengths, and shortcomings.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and strong knowledge of database software.
  • Solid knowledge of Salesforce or customer relationship management systems and business intelligence tools.
  • Proven experience analyzing and presenting results of analysis to executive audiences and frontline users of data.
