About the position

The Regional Account Manager/Customer Team Leader is responsible for driving profitable and sustainable volume growth with key grocery accounts in the Midwest. This role involves developing and executing business plans, managing relationships with customers, and collaborating with internal teams to achieve sales objectives. The position is remote, ideally located in the greater Chicago area, and requires up to 25% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development and execution of the platform & customer specific business plan.
  • Identify business opportunities, set and communicate priorities, and coordinate with Welch's internal team and other necessary resources to achieve desired results.
  • Develop, execute, and monitor Joint Business Goals with customers.
  • Effectively influence and develop relationships with key customers to ensure access to decision makers.
  • Establish local market priorities, goals, and strategies to guide broker development that deliver Welch's business priorities.
  • Manage trade budget and establish post-promotional processes to maximize ROI.
  • Responsible for execution of everyday business in partnership with key accounts, including new item setup, inventory management, and supply chain solutions.
  • Forecast monthly sales to align demand, financial, and sales planning teams with customer needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or a related field required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing role focused on the food/beverage industry.
  • Experience calling on customers in the CPG industry.
  • Experience managing broker relationships and/or direct people management.
  • Strong sales skills including negotiation, account management, business development, and strategic selling.
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the retail food industry.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and ability to manage change.
  • Solid financial acumen with the ability to assess options and drive P&L performance.
  • Technical proficiency in a variety of PC-based applications.

  • Experience in strategic forward-thinking sales strategies.
  • Ability to interact and influence at all levels of management, including senior leadership.
