About the position

The Regional Admissions Counselor at Lamar University is responsible for recruiting prospective students in the Dallas and East Texas area. This remote position focuses on promoting Lamar University programs, providing pre-admission advisement, and facilitating the enrollment process to meet enrollment goals. The counselor will engage with students, families, and educational institutions to enhance recruitment efforts and ensure a smooth transition for prospective students into the university.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit prospective freshman students by providing accurate and timely pre-admission advisement to prospective students, parents, families, and other members of the public.
  • Facilitate the pre-admission, conversion, admission, and enrollment process through various sales methods and recruitment strategies.
  • Attend events and make presentations to communicate with prospective students and their parents to promote Lamar University and its programs.
  • Facilitate and implement recruitment planning and strategies for assigned territories and recruitment specialty areas based on managed yield data.
  • Assist prospective students and their families with the ApplyTexas Application, FAFSA, and other pre-college preparation requirements.
  • Train and mentor new Admissions Counselors and Regional Admissions Counselors throughout their first recruitment cycle.
  • Work directly with area high schools, technical centers, businesses, and other constituencies to prepare students for college and enrollment at LU.
  • Attend and assist in mandatory recruitment events both on-campus and off-campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree OR a combination of college credit and applicable higher education experience may be substituted while actively pursuing a bachelor's degree.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable transportation that meets state legal requirements for operation of a vehicle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish).
  • Experience recruiting varied student populations including low socioeconomic (SES), first generation, and other groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
  • Sales experience and familiarity with customer relationship management systems (CRMs).
