About the position

A Regional Application Engineer (RAE) will be executing high quality solutioning efforts for the Gas Power Services portfolio. The RAE will be accountable for creating a technical solutions path for Upgrades/Retrofits, supporting demand forecasting and growth strategies, and positioning GE's technology leadership to customers. This role requires a deep understanding of relevant markets and customer economic value, which aids in developing winning bid strategies. The RAE will engage in technical analysis of client needs, defining and optimizing products, scope, performance, and cost while considering contract and internal tools and procedures. The position involves calculating plant, system, and equipment performance and efficiency, as well as documenting technical specifications and costing elements for further contract execution phases. The RAE will develop specialized knowledge in the Services portfolio and stay updated on the latest technical developments in their area. They will lead technical strategy development, using high levels of judgment to make trade-offs and handle complex tasks or problems in Application Engineering. The RAE will also manage opportunity-specific functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and complexity, and communicate difficult concepts to influence others' opinions on particular topics. Additionally, the RAE will help forecast demand and plan account development for the Americas, work with regional sales to support CM&U operational plans, and collaborate with Engineering to enhance service capabilities. They will advocate for customers to build and manage NPI growth, work with Product Management to introduce better products, and build competitive intelligence while presenting technologies and updates to users in Energy Transition. This position requires up to approximately 20% travel within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical expertise and develops technical solutions as part of the pre-ITO process while interfacing with the commercial and Sales team.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of relevant markets and customer economic value that aid winning bid strategies.
  • Conducts technical analysis of client needs, defining and optimizing products, scope, performance, and cost.
  • Calculates plant, system, and equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Documents technical specifications and costing elements for further contract execution phases.
  • Develops specialized knowledge in Services portfolio and stays aware of the latest technical developments.
  • Leads technical strategy development and uses high levels of judgment to make trade-offs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with at least 6 years of customer-facing experience in gas turbine technology.
  • Ability to travel within the United States (up to 20% of the time).

  • Prior GT Performance and/or Controls experience.
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
