About the position

The Regional Automation Engineer, Intermediate at Bayer is responsible for advancing regenerative agriculture through technology and engineering. This role involves conceiving, designing, and implementing medium-scale automation projects, as well as providing technical support for production and control systems. The engineer will collaborate with other automation professionals and mentor technicians, contributing to Bayer's mission of solving global challenges in agriculture.

Responsibilities

  • Conceive, design, install, start up, and commission medium scale automation/control improvement projects.
  • Lead and drive PLC, HMI programming, and IT management efforts at sites.
  • Grow and design company core logic, standard HMI logic, and IT process control network.
  • Become an expert with site production and control system needs and provide technical support.
  • Monitor/trend, identify, and develop solutions to control systems.
  • Learn critical process equipment to resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with other automation engineers to ensure strong network and alignment on approaches and standardized systems.
  • Mentor automation technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Automation Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or comparable Technology AND 3 years' experience, or 8 years of practical experience such as experience derived from the Automation Technician role at Bayer production plants.
  • Ability to travel 25% is expected within the region and limited globally.
