About the position

The Regional Business Intelligence Analyst at Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) plays a crucial role in enhancing decision-making and operational performance through advanced analytics and statistical modeling. This position involves close collaboration with various stakeholders to understand reporting needs, ensuring compliance with regional and state statutes, and creating data models, reports, and dashboards to support financial transparency and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand reporting needs for Finance.
  • Apply advanced analytics techniques and statistical modeling to improve decision-making and operational performance.
  • Create and simplify data flows, data models, reports, General Fund Budget (GFB), Annual Financial Reports (AFR), dashboards, and fiscal information reporting.
  • Lead needs and requirement analysis to develop business intelligence capabilities that aggregate, analyze, and publish data to comply with state regulations.
  • Develop and update dashboards and tracking tools regarding financial data.
  • Analyze large raw data sets to gain insights and create 'AHA' moments.
  • Assist in analyzing mechanisms to report data using current information systems for external stakeholder visibility.
  • Identify roadblocks and communicate them to leadership with a solution-focused mindset.
  • Develop a mechanism to communicate updated school-based finance and accounting information to school leadership.
  • Gain knowledge as a subject matter expert regarding state/regional governmental finance reporting and communicate this knowledge to internal stakeholders.
  • Comply with formatting designated by state reporting agencies and legislature.
  • Troubleshoot program logic in a well-organized manner.
  • Proactively analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, computer science, statistics, or related quantitative methods from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Strong ability to understand and analyze user requirements related to organizational goals and objectives.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (lookups, pivot tables, nested logic functions, interfacing with OLAP cubes, etc.).
  • Proficiency in business analytics with the ability to draw conclusions from data and provide insights.
  • Experience with data visualization and BI tools (Tableau and Power BI preferred).
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work autonomously in a high production environment.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the education sector or with educational data reporting.
  • Familiarity with state regulations related to education finance.
