About the position

Innomotics, a Siemens Business, is seeking a Regional Category Manager Logistics for the Americas. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing a Regional Commodity Strategy for logistics services, ensuring alignment with the Global Category Strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing logistics services across multiple countries, including the US, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Peru. The position requires a strong focus on productivity and efficiency, with the goal of optimizing costs while meeting regional logistics specifications and requirements. The Regional Category Manager will lead the selection of regional suppliers in collaboration with cross-functional teams and support the integration of new suppliers into development projects. This includes investigating and recommending new or alternative logistics service suppliers, applying sophisticated negotiation processes to establish the best cost contracts, and ensuring outstanding visibility regarding key performance indicators (KPIs). The role also involves close cooperation with various functions within the organization and contributing to global strategic logistics responsibilities, such as escalations and digitalization initiatives. The candidate will be expected to generate, document, and implement savings that contribute to the business's success, while also establishing regional supplier development processes. This includes coordinating on-site supplier assessments, certification audits, and continuous improvement activities aimed at driving down total costs. The role requires a proactive approach to risk management and supplier evaluations, ensuring that action plans are documented and followed up effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a regional Commodity Strategy for logistics services, including Ground Transportation, Sea/Air Freight, and Warehousing Operations for multiple countries.
  • Lead regional supplier selection in agreement with cross-functional teams and support the integration of new suppliers into development projects.
  • Investigate and recommend new and/or alternative regional logistics service suppliers.
  • Apply sophisticated negotiation processes to test pricing in the regional supplier market and establish the best cost contracts.
  • Optimize costs while meeting regional logistics specifications and requirements.
  • Interact with various functions within the organization across seven countries and three manufacturing plants.
  • Contract regional suppliers to provide cost-optimized logistics services and drive regional price negotiations.
  • Strive for outstanding visibility regarding KPIs and work towards achieving targets.
  • Cooperate with other functions within and outside of Procurement to reach the best results for the business.
  • Contribute to global strategic logistics responsibilities and tasks, such as escalations and digitalization.
  • Generate, document, and implement savings to contribute to the success of the business.
  • Establish regional Supplier Development processes and support on-site supplier assessment and certification audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field; a master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is a plus.
  • 8-10+ years of working experience in Procurement and Logistics Services or Transport/Logistics Operations.
  • Proven successful track record in defining and implementing improvement measures.
  • Ability to coordinate diverse teams and work collaboratively as a team player.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, and persuasion skills; dedicated and target-oriented.
  • Intercultural experience gained in previous assignments.
  • Enjoyment of negotiations and achieving challenging targets.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish; Portuguese is a plus.

  • Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM).
  • Experience in digitalization initiatives within logistics.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices in logistics.
