About the position

The Regional Change Management Project Manager will play a pivotal role in leading and managing change initiatives aimed at restructuring facilities within the Archdiocese of Detroit. This position is focused on decreasing expenses related to church facilities while simultaneously increasing evangelical outreach and engagement within the parishes. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing project plans that align with the mission and vision of the Catholic Church, ensuring that all initiatives are strategically organized to enhance attendance and community involvement across the Archdiocese. In this role, the Project Manager will collaborate closely with church leadership and stakeholders to create comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets. They will lead discussions that may be challenging, always keeping the long-term interests of parishioners and priests at the forefront. The Project Manager will also work with various departments, including the Department of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship, to ensure that both priests and parishioners receive the necessary support throughout the change process. Stakeholder engagement is a critical aspect of this position. The Project Manager will build and maintain strong relationships with church leadership, committees, volunteers, and parishioners to foster alignment and support for the change initiatives. They will facilitate communication and collaboration among all parties involved in resource reallocation and evangelization efforts, ensuring that everyone is on the same page and working towards common goals. Additionally, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing project budgets and resources effectively, ensuring financial stewardship and adherence to funding guidelines. They will oversee a small team of project management experts and provide regular updates and documentation to church leadership and relevant committees, championing the change process throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with church leadership and stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage discussions around the long-term best interest of parishioners and priests within the Family of Parishes (FoP) structure.
  • Collaborate with parish and regional leadership to develop strategies and initiatives to adjust resource allocation to drive increased attendance and engagement.
  • Work with the Department of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship and the Office for Clergy and Consecrated Life to support priests and parishioners through the change process.
  • Build strong relationships with church leadership, committees, volunteers, and parishioners to ensure alignment and support for change initiatives.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among various stakeholders involved in resource reallocation and evangelization efforts.
  • Manage project budgets and resources effectively, ensuring financial stewardship and adherence to funding guidelines.
  • Attract and retain employees and volunteers who can support change efforts while maintaining cost controls and accountability.
  • Provide regular updates, progress reports, and presentations to church leadership and relevant committees.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and champion the change process.
  • Oversee a team of 2 other project management experts in a newly formed department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing transformational change management projects, preferably within a Catholic environment.
  • Strong understanding of church operations, Catholic parish life, administration, and community engagement principles.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and respectfully with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
