About the position

The Child Care Consultant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality and availability of child care services in the Oklahoma City Metro area. This position involves providing training, technical assistance, and support to child care programs, collaborating with licensing consultants and community agencies to ensure effective service delivery. The consultant is responsible for managing program databases, developing professional development opportunities, and promoting best practices in child care.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) vision, mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Help child care programs and providers determine needs, develop objectives, identify funding, provide resources, implement strategies, and monitor progress made toward improving the quality of care.
  • Recruit child care providers for desert areas with minimal available care or where no child care facility is present.
  • Support providers caring for children with exceptional needs.
  • Keep child care providers informed about industry information regarding best practices, policies and procedures, training opportunities, and licensing regulation changes.
  • Provide Practice Based Coaching and Technical Assistance utilizing established tools.
  • Promote accreditation and assist as needed.
  • Design and deliver professional development opportunities to adult learners.
  • Identify local child care training needs and work with staff and trainers to develop, provide, or facilitate needed training.
  • Stay informed about program resources and initiatives including QRIS, Scholars for Excellence, CECPD, and other child care consultation services.
  • Assist with public awareness events and community outreach activities promoting CCR&R services and Early Childhood Education issues.
  • Communicate with local, state, and federal legislators about issues affecting families and quality child care.
  • Develop strong relationships with community partners.
  • Prepare and submit all required reports and database entries pertaining to the program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in early care and education or child development.
  • Knowledge and experience in early care and education and/or child development.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of current insurance, as travel is required for the position.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work on multiple projects with concurrent deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to develop positive working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Adult education/training experience.
