About the position

The Regional Clinical Pharmacist (RCP) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of pharmacy services within Optum Infusion Pharmacy. This position is responsible for implementing clinical best practices, providing training and oversight, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance programs. The RCP collaborates with various teams to enhance patient care services and is accountable for evaluating infusion pharmacy practices in accordance with regulatory standards. The role requires significant travel and offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical support and mentorship to Directors of Pharmacy (DOPs) in their roles and responsibilities.
  • Audit performance for clinical documentation, policy compliance, and management of quality-related issues.
  • Support DOP oversight of clean room suite functions and ensure compliance with operational parameters.
  • Track and trend actionable air/surface sample results and communicate findings with leadership.
  • Oversee DOP development of corrective action plans in response to audit findings.
  • Collaborate with branch and regional leaders to address quality improvement opportunities in infusion pharmacy services.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Assist with project implementations and support engagement with field-level subject matter experts.

Requirements

  • BS Pharmacy or PharmD degree
  • Active and unencumbered pharmacist license in good standing in the state of residence
  • 3+ years of Home Infusion and/or Sterile Compounding experience
  • 1+ years of management experience within a healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to lead change on a national scale
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of USP (797) and (800) standards
  • Proven operational performance management skills
  • Ability to travel approximately 50%.

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Advanced Pharmacy Training such as PGY-1 Residency or PGY-2 Residency
  • Demonstrated expertise or Board Certification in pharmacy practice
  • 3+ years of direct, hands-on Pharmacist experience
  • Experience managing geographically dispersed groups
  • Experience with FDA site inspection and remediation
  • Experience in clean room design and maintenance
  • Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards.
