About the position

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will be at the forefront of managing complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects that are critical to the success of our operations. Your role will involve leading projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all technical requirements are met while maintaining a clear focus on the big picture. You will collaborate closely with internal customers to define project requirements and manage the entire project lifecycle, which includes scheduling, risk identification, and stakeholder communication. Your ability to articulate technical analyses and recommendations to both executives and engineers will be essential in driving project success. In this position, you will leverage your extensive technical and leadership expertise to manage projects of varying sizes and scopes. You will be responsible for identifying future opportunities, improving processes, and steering the technical direction of your programs. Your work will directly impact the architecture that supports Google's online services, as you will be involved in developing and maintaining data centers and building the next generation of Google platforms. The Technical Infrastructure team prides itself on being the engineers' engineers, taking a hands-on approach to problem-solving and innovation. You will also provide technical support to data center construction and operations teams, assisting in defining control system design requirements for multiple projects. Your collaboration with engineering core teams will be crucial in developing, implementing, and managing data center designs, ensuring that all documentation from the Basis of Design (BOD) to Issued for Construction (IFC) is accurate and comprehensive. Additionally, you will own and manage all site-level control system issues during the project execution phase, maintaining all related design requirements and interface documents.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using engineering expertise.
  • Plan requirements with internal customers and manage projects through the entire lifecycle.
  • Manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate them to stakeholders.
  • Explain analyses and recommendations to executives and discuss technical trade-offs with engineers.
  • Provide technical support to data center construction and operations teams.
  • Assist in defining control system design requirements for multiple data center projects.
  • Enable construction teams to manage and execute BMS/PMS scopes of work across active projects.
  • Collaborate with engineering core teams to develop and manage data center designs from BOD to IFC documents.
  • Participate in new technology insertions and provide site-specific requirements during BOD development.
  • Own and manage all site-level control system issues during project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of experience in a design-build environment.
  • 5 years of experience in design, operation, and commissioning of control systems interfacing with electrical and mechanical systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Knowledge of large-scale mission critical facility's electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems.
  • Knowledge of key control systems and their programming and operation, including Rockwell automation building control systems, PLC programming and automation - Modicon, Schneider Electric Power SCADA.
  • Knowledge of Inductive Automation and the Ignition platform.
  • Knowledge of electrical protection and control.
