About the position

The Regional Director of Accounting at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in overseeing the general accounting and physician finance areas for the region's facilities. This position is responsible for coordinating the preparation of monthly, interim, and annual financial statements, along with supporting schedules and analyses that are essential for management's decision-making processes. The Director will manage and train staff, ensuring that they are equipped to produce and compile routine and specific financial reports that benefit management and enhance financial decision-making. Additionally, the Director is tasked with maintaining the regional facilities' accounting policies and practices, overseeing the maintenance of fiscal records, and preparing comprehensive financial reports while evaluating and maintaining internal controls. In this role, the Director will develop, recommend, implement, and monitor corporate financial policies and procedures, establishing internal controls to safeguard the corporation's assets. The Director will also be responsible for the preparation of the operating budget process, developing and monitoring timetables, and establishing guidelines and formats for budget development. This includes monitoring performance against budgets and assisting in the analysis of variances, as well as preparing reports for review by the Senior Management Team. The Director will coordinate the monthly and annual financial close processes and will be responsible for hiring, training, developing, and assigning tasks to the Accounting and Physician Finance Staff. Leading the staff in the annual budget process is also a key responsibility of this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance required.
  • Minimum of three to five years of previous management experience.
  • Minimum of seven years' experience in hospital finance, accounting, or related field.
