About the position

The Regional Financial Controller (RFC) plays a pivotal role within the Regional Finance team, tasked with ensuring the accuracy of financial performance reporting, particularly focusing on the Balance Sheet, result accuracy, and compliance with relevant regulations. This position requires a deep understanding of financial statements, ensuring they align with both IFRS and local GAAP standards. The RFC will also provide essential financial management support in regions lacking dedicated finance resources and will oversee the financial integration of new territories into the organization. With over 25 years in the industry, our client is a leading provider of medical assistance and international healthcare, operating in more than 90 countries. The organization promotes a hybrid and flexible work schedule, emphasizing growth opportunities and internal promotions. The RFC will be responsible for a variety of key tasks, including ensuring accurate balance sheet reporting through detailed reviews of all legal entities within the region, establishing central Treasury governance, and managing foreign exchange exposure. The role also involves overseeing the periodic audit process for all entities within the Latin America (Latam) region, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgetary constraints. As a technical accounting expert, the RFC will support finance teams across the region and serve as the primary contact for accounting matters with the Medical Services finance team. The position requires active coaching of functional reports on best practices and maintaining a robust internal control environment to ensure compliance with IFRS and company policies. Additionally, the RFC will drive governance around the accounting function in the Latam region, review and enhance revenue and cost recognition processes, and communicate necessary changes across departments. The role includes performing ad-hoc analyses and projects as requested by the VP Finance, managing external accounting vendors, and ensuring accurate financial reporting for management and statutory purposes. The RFC will also participate in quarterly business reviews and budget preparations, ensuring compliance with General Affairs Policy & Procedures (GAPP) and legal/statutory requirements for all entities in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate balance sheet reporting through detailed periodic reviews of all legal entities within the Region.
  • Establish central Treasury governance and proactively manage Foreign Exchange exposure.
  • Overall management of the periodic audit process for all entities within the Latam Region to ensure timely completion and cost management.
  • Act as technical accounting expert to support finance teams within the Region and liaise with the Medical Services finance team on accounting matters.
  • Coach functional reports on best practices within the Group.
  • Maintain an internal control environment aimed at compliance with IFRS, statutory accounting rules, and company policies.
  • Drive governance around the accounting function in the Latam Region.
  • Review and improve revenue and cost recognition processes, ensuring appropriate communication of changes across departments.
  • Set goals and highlight risks around the accounting function, including balance sheet exposure and processes.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and projects as requested by VP Finance, including due diligence and business planning for future acquisitions.
  • Manage external accounting vendors to ensure accurate and timely results while controlling costs.
  • Full P&L ownership, including budget, forecast, and monthly reporting for management purposes.
  • Manage working capital and compliance with key company policies and procedures.
  • Provide financial support for major tenders and ensure timely financial information for management and statutory purposes.
  • Oversee the establishment of an effective accounting organization within the Region.
  • Manage periodic Group and Statutory audits as well as Group Internal Audits.
  • Participate in Quarterly Business Reviews and budget preparation for the Region.
  • Ensure compliance with General Affairs Policy & Procedures (GAPP) and manage compliance through periodic reviews and audits.
  • Lead year-end statutory and Group audit processes and manage Regional Consolidated P&L FX exposures.
  • Review large tenders and contracts to monitor billing currency for natural hedging.
  • Manage banking relationships and optimize bank account access and charges.
  • Proactively manage monthly Regional cash levels and cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure legal/statutory compliance of all entities within the Region in coordination with Group Tax and Regional Tax Manager.
  • Continuously review work processes to maximize staff efficiency and quality of information flow with other departments.
  • Manage the creation and set-up of legal entities to retain only active entities and optimize their structure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills across diverse business environments.
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels in complex environments.
  • Exposure to all aspects of the Finance function, including accounting, financial analysis, and management/statutory reporting.
  • Experience in a customer-oriented environment, preferably in the professional services industry.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to deliver results in a matrix reporting environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a proven driver of change.
