About The Position

The Regional Fleet Manager at OHLA USA is responsible for overseeing the fleet operations in Southern California, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and efficient management of equipment and drivers. This role involves collaboration with the Regional Vice President and National Fleet Manager to support project completion through effective fleet management and maintenance. The position requires regular travel to various job sites and the management of a team of mechanics and administrative staff.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a construction fleet management setting.
  • 5+ years of experience managing direct reports, including mechanics and administrative support staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment and commercial vehicles, such as excavators, grinders, dump trucks, and water trucks.
  • Clean driving record, with the ability to travel to job sites throughout Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside, and Orange County.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA requirements for commercial vehicles and drivers.
  • Develop and enforce safety regulations in collaboration with the Regional Safety Manager.
  • Manage and maintain procedures for the Transportation Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
  • Ensure company equipment and drivers comply with federal, state, and local safety standards.
  • Oversee and maintain the regional fleet's equipment inventory.
  • Manage and track yard costs and revenues to optimize efficiency.
  • Coordinate and monitor heavy equipment rentals in collaboration with regional projects and the national fleet team.
  • Track and analyze regional fuel usage and costs.
  • Generate accurate reports and audits by analyzing equipment utilization, fuel consumption, fleet costs, and more across various spreadsheets and systems.
  • Ensure all equipment is current with registrations, permits, and license plates.
  • Monitor employee drivers, including MVR checks.
  • Manage driver training programs, policies, and files.
  • Oversee the process of purchasing new equipment through investment proposals.
  • Coordinate equipment sales and auctions as necessary.
  • Supervise a team of regional mechanics and remote administrative staff.
  • Support regional projects by dispatching equipment and service technicians.
  • Follow up with job sites to ensure equipment is replaced or operational as quickly as possible.
  • Issue and reconcile purchase orders, invoices, and re-bill job sites as needed.
  • Maintain equipment maintenance and inspection records.
  • Review and audit driver logs as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
