About the position

The Controls Engineer position at Bunge is a critical role within the Instrument, Controls and Electrical (ICE) team, focusing on enhancing controls engineering and automation across US sites while collaborating with Canadian teams. The role encompasses project engineering, providing support for controls and automation, and contributing to key business initiatives aimed at improving performance and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of local ICE resources to reduce downtime and improve performance and safety.
  • Review existing control systems logic/components for continuous improvements.
  • Respond to downtime events, troubleshoot malfunctions, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support Bunge's Electrical Safety Policy and assist in creating safe work plans.
  • Assist with ICE project design/feasibility studies using a stage-gate approach.
  • Review ICE standards/specifications/data sheets and construction bid packages.
  • Maintain Controls standards/specifications/data sheets in collaboration with Canadian counterparts.
  • Improve reporting/tracking of ICE-related downtime and visibility of troublesome controls assets.
  • Enhance reliability and reduce downtime of ICE assets through maintenance strategies.
  • Develop and manage a 3-year strategy including Bunge4.0 technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering with experience in controls, industrial networking, and automation in relevant sectors.
  • Solid understanding of industry codes and standards, including NFPA, NEC, and ISA.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley controls hardware and communication hardware.
  • Proficiency in Rockwell Automation software and networking concepts.
  • Understanding of industrial communication concepts and hazardous area classifications.
  • Familiarity with process control instrumentation and MCE testing.
  • Experience reviewing P&IDs, logic diagrams, and electrical controls drawings.
  • Experience with server virtualization and risk management.
