About the position

The Regional Instrument Mechanic North is responsible for performing calibration and repair of mechanical and electrical instruments at TVA plants and asset locations. This role requires extensive travel to various temporary work locations within the defined regional area, and the incumbent will work primarily on instruments that measure and control various parameters such as pressure, temperature, and flow. The position also involves training apprentices and ensuring the proper functioning of control devices and instrumentation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate and repair mechanical and electrical instruments that measure various parameters.
  • Inspect, diagnose, test, disconnect, remove, disassemble, repair, reassemble, and reinstall instruments and control equipment.
  • Adjust and maintain program controllers and automatic control devices.
  • Train apprentices as assigned.
  • Perform miscellaneous calibration and repair of plant instruments and control devices.

Requirements

  • High school education and an Associate's degree in Applied Electronics Engineering Technology or Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, or equivalent military training.
  • Minimum of 4 years of documented work experience in Instrumentation and Controls.
  • Completion of an instrument mechanic apprenticeship program or its equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of the construction and operation of various types of instruments and control devices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the electric utility industry.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
