About the position

The Regional Inventory Control Manager at DHL is a pivotal role that focuses on advancing inventory strategies and enhancing the functional structure within the assigned region or sector. The manager will provide overall inventory management expertise, defining best practice policies, procedures, and techniques to ensure operational excellence. They will lead the implementation and adherence to these best practices while monitoring and reporting on compliance and issues regularly. In this role, the manager will provide leadership and direction to lower-level inventory staff, acting as a mentor and fostering a community among inventory control professionals. They will serve as the inventory liaison between vendors, customers, and internal departments, ensuring that operational objectives are met. Continuous improvement of inventory control disciplines is a key focus, and the manager will support and recommend hiring and training initiatives for inventory control associates. The Regional Inventory Control Manager will also be responsible for developing, coordinating, and establishing best practices across all sites. They will ensure that existing inventory management practices align with reporting and commercial requirements, recommending and implementing policies that support accurate records of inventory activities. Additionally, the manager will define and refine consistent site metrics and reporting, providing leadership and training to maintain the integrity of inventory metrics. They will also oversee inventory analysis, including physical inventories, and manage inventory discrepancy investigations to maintain adequate inventory levels and control. Staying updated on technology enhancements within the industry is essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Progress inventory strategy and develop expertise to enhance the functional structure within the assigned region/sector/portfolio.
  • Provide overall inventory management expertise defining best practice policies, procedures, and techniques.
  • Provide leadership and strategic oversight for the implementation and adherence to best practices.
  • Monitor and report issues and compliance on a regular basis.
  • Provide leadership and direction to lower-level inventory staff, acting as a point of escalation and mentor.
  • Serve as inventory liaison between vendors, customers, and internal departments to achieve operational objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement of inventory control disciplines and application.
  • Support and recommend hiring and training of inventory control associates.
  • Provide guidance, training, and direction for inventory control within the organization.
  • Develop, coordinate, and ensure the establishment of best practices for inventory management.
  • Ensure understanding of existing inventory management practices, reporting, and commercial requirements.
  • Recommend and implement policies, processes, and procedures for accurate inventory records.
  • Establish policies and procedures that support good inventory control practices at all sites.
  • Define and refine consistent site metrics and reporting for inventory management.
  • Provide leadership, support, and training to ensure the integrity of inventory metrics.
  • Lead inventory analysis, including physical inventories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in inventory control, logistics, or related discipline.
  • 4+ years of work-related experience in inventory control or logistics.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain, distribution, or related field.
  • 3+ years in an Inventory Control Manager role in a unit pick environment at a large company preferred.
  • 3+ years of client relationship experience preferred.
