About the position

The Laboratory Director at Emerus is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Laboratory Department across assigned hospitals. This role involves ensuring high-quality laboratory services, compliance with regulatory standards, and effective management of personnel and resources. The director will work closely with hospital administration and clinical consultants to enhance laboratory operations and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct the overall operation of the Laboratory Department.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in laboratory operations.
  • Monitor laboratory effectiveness, personnel utilization, and ethical standards.
  • Secure and maintain necessary facilities, equipment, and supplies for patient care.
  • Develop and manage the laboratory budget and fiscal operations.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and administration.
  • Coordinate in-service training for laboratory personnel.
  • Establish and maintain performance standards and ensure competency of staff.
  • Implement and monitor performance improvement and CQI activities.
  • Attend and participate in hospital committees as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification as Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by ASCP or equivalent.
  • Current state licensure as required by the state of practice.
  • Qualification as Lab Director and Technical Consultant in a moderately complex lab as defined by CLIA '88.
  • 5+ years' experience working in a clinical laboratory environment.
  • 5+ years supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory environment with Quality Assurance and laboratory regulations.
